Yeah, I was '78. My mom said a lot was done without even talking to her. For example, my bro was circumcised (1983) and they'd never asked her. She said she likely would have agreed to it, but it was something she was expecting to be asked. She said maybe they asked our dad, but who knows.
The HPV thing showed up when I was in high school/college and was a huge deal. I refused it (I was currently dealing with teh fallout from the required college vaccines) and then when I was 35, I had a gynecologist give me crap - she said I was lying about the number of partners and when she gave me the HPV test and it came back negative, forced me to re-do it. It again came back negative and she tried to insist that even though I was old I needed to the damned vaccine. I was already vaccine injured at that point and couldn't believe the pressure. I refused to go back to her.
The numbers are all a game. I don't believe any of it any more. I had rubella - from the freaking booster - and it didn't kill me. My mom had mumps as a kid. We all had chickenpox. These things don't kill us if we are healthy and well-fed and I think the vaccines cause quite a bit of the "outbreaks".
Three of my cats had already been through the system before I got them. One has been vaccinated I don't even know how many times and she's got IBD and I have to give her prednisolone daily. The other two don't have normal poos. The two I have that I know aren't vaccinated because they showed up with their balls, are my healthiest. They are also my youngest so I don't know if it's just coincidence, yet. We'll see. My vet is way cool and doesn't pressure me at all. I left my last vet because he was so insistent and I got tired of arguing. It was to the point I was worried he'd do it and not tell me.
Yep, the overt predatory nature of big pharma with the implied pressure on front line medical professionals to shill their pharma products is so extreme it's impossible to miss when you actually pay attention to it - after years of first hand experience being sucked into big pharma with a host of chronic / and somewhat debilitating issues (that honesty i have been able to overwhelmingly resolve via complete reworking of diet, losing weight, zero refined sugar, zero goyslop, zero overly processed foods/ additives etc and ditching multiple meds - thanks lockdowns ! ) much of todays modern pharmacopeia is profit driven garbage that causes 2 issues to resolve one, unfortunately many never come to that realization.
Oh yeah. I became my own doctor a long time ago. I'm lucky and moved to AZ where we can order a bunch of our own bloodwork, no questions asked. I was able to diagnose and treat my Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I just found a new doc that is way cool and gets a kick out of it and lets me run with stuff (he diagnosed me with some weird vague thing so he can order bloodwork for me and my ins cover it while I experiment on myself).
I'm working on my bf. He was given a host of meds and I was able to prove one of them was complete crap when I begged him to try a fasting experiment...We'll see how long he keeps it up, but I have high hopes just because he is seeing insane results.
Wow , that is awesome. all the best for you and for your bf. In all honesty - no one has more of a vested interest in our good health and care than ourselves.
Since about 2019 (maybe just less than a year before the holo-cov) i also became more proactive in my health care after close to 2 decades of all sorts of big pharma SSRI'S et al (and associated side effects) - went back to basics - healthy food, exercise, good mindset.
Old family doctor is slowly understanding that i'm not appreciative of his 'try this one then' anymore yet he is still resistant to letting me decide what is in my best interest - i'm kind of beholden to seeing him ever month for daily medication but hey such is life - i think he's finally getting over the shock of me dropping 30 kgs since the lockdowns , my blood pressure dropping and stabilizing. chronic depression/ suicidal idealation totally resolving and most physiological markers all showing improvement after dumping multiple of his prescription meds, haha. Buts its all good , Cant teach him new tricks something something.
