So they were threatened with death, in other words.
It’s really no different than putting a gun to someone’s head and saying “well you don’t have to get the jab, but if you don’t I’ll pull this trigger”..and then claiming that you didn’t “force” them since you “gave them a choice”.
If someone does that in other circumstances, we call it “aggravated robbery” or “aggravated kidnapping”, for example. The perp can’t then say “well I gave them a choice to get in the van/give me their wallet, so therefore I didn’t break the law.”
It’s a bullshit argument, “legally” or otherwise. And on top of it, it’s ultimately victim-blaming behavior: “well they chose to get in the van/give me the wallet” as if the threat of death wasn’t the deciding factor in that choice.
Maybe add blackmailed to the list.
