A mercenary is an independent contractor, not a US troop...

Yep, being paid to fight as opposed to 'volunteering' as a member of the International Ukraine brigade and not currant serving military.

Exactly. They guys fighting daesh in the mid east were portrayed as heroic. Maybe americans are waking up to the litany of lies regarding ukraine.
