Anne M. Nardacci, US District Judge in Albany, NY, ruled that the administration failed to support claims that the state law usurped federal law, or that it unlawfully regulated or discriminated against the federal government, according to the Associated Press.

Narducci wrote that her job was not to evaluate the desirability of the Green Light Law on its policy but rather to determine whether arguments established that the law violated the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause, which gives federal laws precedence over state laws. Simple, all other states should just no longer consider a NY license a legal document or government issued id. That would apply for anything a ID is needed.
