Have you ever shot a rifle in your life? I could make that shot easily when I was 12 with no real training and a few hours at a range to site the scope in and practice.

Maybe, but there are cameras literally everywhere these days if there's a crowd. My phone can shoot better video at 60x zoom than your average security camera.
They wanted a headshot because it would have been far worse. They were ok with just hitting him and running even if he lived, if they hit us arm they would have still ran.
