Normally, yes.
In this case, where the defense wasn't allowed to present evidence to the jury; where the judge allowed the prosecution to have the final say in closing arguments; where the instructions to the jury were blatantly unconstitutional; and where multiple conflicts of interest were ignored, I'd say they will allow the "judge" to sentence Trump before any appeals are allowed.
That would give them the opportunity to force the Trump legal team to spend even more time and money to appeal the jail time even before appealing the ruling.
Also, it would add another talking point for the leftist media.
