Why wouldn't Judge Juan Merchan finish the job and add to the left's glee in calling Donald Trump a "convicted felon" by sentencing him to jail? That fact that Trump's sentencing is on July 11, mere days before the Republican National Convention, would not impede a judge who, according to Trump attorney Alina Habba, covered his mouth to laugh during his sentencing. It would be no impediment to the hand-picked jurist who allowed prosecutors to hide the underlying "crime" for the entire trial, hide witnesses, and overrule the majority of the defense objections in this goat rodeo.

What would stop him from jailing Trump?

I couldn't find a definitive answer, but wouldn't sentencing be pushed back pending the resolution of his appeal?

Normally, yes.
In this case, where the defense wasn't allowed to present evidence to the jury; where the judge allowed the prosecution to have the final say in closing arguments; where the instructions to the jury were blatantly unconstitutional; and where multiple conflicts of interest were ignored, I'd say they will allow the "judge" to sentence Trump before any appeals are allowed.

That would give them the opportunity to force the Trump legal team to spend even more time and money to appeal the jail time even before appealing the ruling.

Also, it would add another talking point for the leftist media.

It will be interesting to see how far they stretch the rule of law. Popcorn ready!
