In the wake of a statement from Democratic leadership indicating they would oppose a motion from Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson, she vowed to push forward with her effort.
Greene filed her motion to vacate in late March following Johnson's support of a $1.2 trillion "minibus" spending package. Thus far, Kentucky GOP Rep. Thomas Massie and Arizona GOP Rep. Paul Gosar have signed on to the effort. Democrats, for their part, indicated they would work against such a motion.
"Mike Johnson is officially the Democrat Speaker of the House. Here is their official endorsement of his Speakership. What slimy back room deal did Johnson make for the Democrats’ support?" she posted on X, along with an image of the Democratic statement.
Part of me wonders whether Greene is being played... That the Dems are doing everything they can to convince her to try to oust Johnson.
I mean, it's all just uni-party theater anyway, but does she realize the part she's playing?
