It got there because although he recognized that Bragg's case is bullshit (using state business or tax law and trying to turn it into a federal criminal felony), he provided another basis of bullshit to soothe the left and persecute Trump - the alleged 'cover up' to have nice records before filing federal election disclosures that he then argues the state has the duty to investigate for the federal level. That way maybe he can help Bragg do a u-turn and change his entire case around and try for something else that can fool people to thinking it is legitimate.
