During the last presidential election I was the guy that broke the local votes scanning weird machine thing. I fed my shit into the scanner and it did nothing. I waited about 15 seconds and started to look around. Pretty soon I had five volunteers surrounding me assuring me that my vote would be counted. They were really unhappy. Apparently they had to stay there until some sort of technician showed up that night at some point to open up the vault and manually count the votes. I kind of enjoyed the whole surreal experience. I knew half of the volunteers.
I later learned that the police were called a couple times later that day over people throwing tantrums about the electronic vote counter being broken.
