California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) vetoed a bill Friday night that would have mandated courts factor in whether parents affirm their child’s transgender identity or “gender expression” in custody cases. Newsom claimed affirmation was already part of existing family law and warned by singling out one characteristic the legislature could be setting a precedent that would be used by others to “diminish the civil rights of vulnerable communities.” . .

A ploy to look like a centrist when he runs for President? Maybe the CA house/senate will override his veto anyway.

Newsom has done nothing here other than maintain his own political viability. He no doubt has presidential aspirations. He did not call gender nonsense stupid, and courts in commifagia are already so fucked most of them will consider tranny agenda anyways.
But going full blown "we will take your kids and trannify them" makes you unacceptable to too much of the country.
I unfortunately live in a pretty liberal part of the country, but it's not as full blown left as others. The tranny issue with children is a line many moderate liberals won't (haven't yet been brainwashed) to cross. I have known numerous libs who were perfectly on board with "transwomen being women" and the like. Then they tried to put tranny shit in schools and such and the same flipped out and starkly rejected it.
I guess it's good that this particular veto happened, but let's not pretend it's anything other than Newsom trying to be able to say, "See I'm not full blown crazy," so he can go to higher office and do full blown crazy things.
