There are usually problems with this, though.

For example, these reports rarely provide any context and they also tend to involve a fair bit of sensationalism in presenting all firearm-related fatalities as the same.

There are by some counts ~350 million guns in the hands of legal gun owners and some groups estimate around 1 Trillion rounds of ammo in civilian hands. The US population buys more guns per year than EVERY MILITARY IN THE WORLD COMBINED.

If legal civilian gun ownership was the problem. You would not have to convince anyone.
