There is a precedent though. Democrats have established the precedent that a protest entering a capitol building is a special crime called "insurrection" that means you can forget about due process and rule of law to prosecute it. If they don't like it, they should let their political prisoners out of the DC gulag.

President Biden on Thursday took aim at Tennessee Republicans after the state House voted to expel two Democratic lawmakers who participated in a chaotic gun control protest at the state Capitol.
