A friend's wife was prattling on about something political and I held my tongue until she was finished. Others in the group were making benign comments but I said nothing until she looked at me and said, "well?"
"That's adoooorable."
Let's say she wanted to ring my neck right then and there but the laughter (at her expense) made it even worse. (For her. Better for the rest of us)

She did that quite often. A different friend of mine took it another way. After she finished a different tirade he stood up and clapped slowly. Mockingly. She never learns her lesson.
