McCarthy had to agree to a rule change in which a vote for the speaker to be removed can be initiated by a single person.

If he does something literally any of the 20 (or, any of the others for that matter) don't like they can start a vote to remove him and if removed, then the whole speaker nomination starts over.

I wonder if it it takes the same vote count electing him does, ie, he is basically removed until he gets 218 yes votes again or if it takes 218 votes to remove him?

Not sure on that point.

He had to agree to a bunch of other rules changes though that limit what he can do in terms of pissing the rest of them off.

I listened to his response to the media when they asked about him refusing to allow Schiff and Swallwell on the Intel Committee and it was actually quite good.

Honestly the whole thing with his nomination was probably one of the best things I've ever seen both in the process and outcome. It was very shrewd by the 20 dissenters.

Wonder if the R's realized there is going to be a revolt and they better buck up or be lost in the footnotes of history.

Maybe the jews realized it and needed a blow off valve.
