I bet she could walk through the most racist poor towns in all of Appalachia and get out just fine as long as she kept moving and didn't trespass. In fact, if she talked politely and with a southern drawl, there is a good chance she would be welcomed by the majority of the residents.
There are plenty of black areas that a white person would be lucky if they got out with being beaten unconscious and robbed. Look up the story of Christina Eilman if people want to see a harrowing account or normal black behavior towards white people.
