Incorrect in my experience. Historically, unions were to the left, because the represented working class men who worked 6 days a week, ussually 10 hrs. a day. No benefits, no retirement, just work. Look at the formation of Knights of Columbus as one example of working class men trying to protect their families. The rise of unions also means the creation of formal appreticeships in construction; better buildings and bridges. Here's the catch: the left no longer supports working men and women. At all. We seem to be in a situation where organized labor has been abandoned by the Left, yet has no dialogue with the Right. And so, Americas infrastructure deteriorates. Boeing moving out of Washington and outsourcing is a great example of corruption.
Sure, but I'm talking about the present.
You have to know where you've been, to know where you're going. It seems we are circling back to the 1930s. The erosion of protections for the vast majority of citizens is not a good sign.
