The process is the punishment. They don't care that the charges are lame, the punishment (and deterrent) has already been meted out. Oppose them unsuccessfully and you can expect a similar treatment, while the judiciary sits by and watches impotently. If they were really afraid of some sort of uprising, they are doing all they can to provoke it. Likely in order to justify an iron fisted response and plunge into authoritarianism... to maintain "safety"

I'm interested in the double jeopardy argument since President Trump was already impeached and found not guilty of jan6 'incitement of insurrection' in the senate trial. Does that work or do dems have another screw you one rule for dems and another for thee trick?
