The near perfect 50/50 split is the giveaway. If you did some statistical analysis you could probably show that the number of elections with a 1% margin have gone up dramatically in the past 20 years.
51/49 is a sign of mail in ballot stuffing form of election rigging. Each vote costs $ so they want to add just past the minimal needed. To lower costs and keep the end vote value as around the correct value as possible.
I believe the last I checked the presidential elections were near 51/49 for a very long time.
Bottom line is either way, it's statistically impossible. In elections there should be clear choices unless the candidates are basically the same in every way.
At this point I don't think anyone should be allowed to be elected unless there is AT LEAST a 60% vote. 70-80% is probably more where it should be.
51/49 results show the WORST 'democracy' has to offer, even if it wasn't rigged. It says the MAX amount of people who don't want to be ruled over by the elected candidate end up being ruled over by that candidate.
