The White colonists in America banded together because the British started using prairie niggers to attack them. It was a race war.

The Brits were paying prairie niggers (INJUNS) to attack the colonists. That caused the disparate White tribes among the colonists to realize they all shared a common White identity.
Up until the Brits started paying prairie niggers to start pillaging colonial towns, your thesis was largely correct, and the different tribes of European settlers didn't really have a common identity to rally behind, or common cause to fight the war. Once it became a race war against cannibal prairie niggers, all Whites were on board.
This aspect of it usually isn't mentioned but you can still find some sources that talk about it.
