The reality: * Greater energy use results in higher quality of life. * Energy resources are endless -- they will never run out. * There is no moral component in the use of energy -- it is not "wrong" in any way to use energy. We should be making as much energy as possible available for the use of individuals in their daily lives, as cheaply as possible. It is completely ass backwards to try to restrict the use of energy. No policy could be more wrong, or more destructive, to the quality of human life on this planet.
