Conservatives need to do better job clarifying whether there is a rape clause or not when discussing abortion bans, because it's an important clarification and has become the main counter point from liberals on the issue. Newsom finally started his campaign, debating Brian Dahle, a northern California farmer and to a conservative's view he lost most of the debate on economic issues, however he hit hard on the abortion issue and Dahle seemed unable to elaborate his views on abortion, and what specific changes to the abortion laws he would enact. The key to winning the midterms is to convince Democrats to not vote Dem, and since the majority of Dems are socialist leaning and expect the state to fix the economy by redistributing existing wealth, clarification on proposed abortion law changes is important. Simply stating a vague total ban will knee jerk these undecided Democrats to stick with their party on that issue alone.
