If the bay area and Los Angeles were cut from the rest of the state they would immediately fail. While they have the ports and the income, the rest of the state could mire them in costs.
If California breaks into pieces it will just add more democrat senators. If it doesn't happen right away it will within 2 voting cycles.

If regular CA (Pelosi, Feinstein, Newsome) does nothing to stop it and doesn't see it as a threat, then you're right and it's suspicious that it may be a leftist plot to get more leftist senators into Congress just like dems' plan to make DC a state for the senator add-ons.
