An interesting take on the subject (IMHO):
As Oscar Wilde once quipped, “There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.” So, putting all of the above aside for a second, the Democrats are banking on Trump doing everything he can to not go before the committee, with the calculus of "If he's not guilty, then what does he have to hide? Why is he afraid to appear?" Well, that's all well and good but what if Donald J. Trump does agree to appear before their committee?
Whatever Trump's shortcomings may be, he navigates the waters of the broadcasting medium like a great white off Amity Island with its lorenzini pinging from a whiff of co-ed bikini at a thousand yards. He is also one of the greatest communicators in or out of public office. Rigged committee or not, he'll have these idiots for breakfast on national television. And you better believe the audience will be a tad larger than that of Young Sheldon. Now that said, as to Trump's aforementioned shortcomings, his tendency to often shoot from the hip has gotten him into trouble. But, it's the media that's out for his blonde combover scalp that does the damage and most people regard the media these days as lower than a dog turd on one's shoes. And much of that low opinion is the result of how it treated Trump, because in the end, it's how the media regards those who supported him. Personally, I think he can do no harm to himself. In fact, all they will do is make a martyr out of him and energize the political and national revival movement that he leads.
