I’ve thought about this for years. The fact is that very few people in office are there to represent the people, rather they represent their biggest donors. That stickied post about the guy coercing the Texas govt to outlaw transitions surgeries on children was but one example of how this shit works.
I’m not against term limits. I’m actually for them, but I also don’t think they are just going to magically solve the problem because the Cabal will simply adapt to them. Whether it’s the same congressman for 40 years or 10 different ones over a span of 40 years, most of them can be bought and are usually bought before they even start running. If not then, then they’re bought after they win.
A rich donor can buy 10 different guys just as easily as he can buy one guy, is my point.
Annual IRS audits for family and friends will likely discourage the worst offenders.
It probably would, but what mechanism is in place to force the IRS to do its job in a non partisan fashion? Because last I checked, there apparently isn’t one.
All true, but that is today's IRS. I don't think post 2025 IRS will resemble the current corrupt mess. I think this thread explores what could be done in the future after the Progressives, liberals, DS/NWO folks are arrested or unelected, ie invoke term limits in the future when MAGA has the power to do it.
I'm in favor of incumbent handicaps over term limits.
That way if the incumbent is really good they can stay employed
I’m not familiar with this concept but would like to know more..
Like after 2 terms the incumbent would "lose" x% of votes where X increases term over term.
In this way if a politician was loved by their constituents they will be able to remain employed by them. Otherwise by the third or fourth term they will probably be endorsing who they wish to replace them.
In states with ranked voting this would also increase the chances of a third party winning.
