the football teams that come together and let the chemo kid get a touchdown before he dies. Everyday acts of kindness matter. People worry so much about defining it you know. I think it begins with empathy and doing something about sometingh you believe in. Idk what i believe in. Politics is crazy and its not like I have anything in common with any of em. So much theater. Athletes that come hang out with make a wish kids even. Kindness matters even when it's done for pr purposes. Shaq has visited a ton of sick kids like a lot of athletes. I like the intention. Means the world to a kid.

edit: It's very easy to be a cynic you know. But living means giving. Even when it's your time. And shaq gomes to mind because he's the biggest person most kids have ever seen. Like a living giant. He probably blows their mind. Like visiting your elementary school to vote. it's so tiny feeling. Everything feels bigger from a kids perspective.

I had a wrestling match once.

I was at least 5 inches taller than the kid, and two weight classes above him.

We had to wrestle at this match, it was just a practice meet, but we we the only ones on our respective teams close enough to match up in weight.

I looked him in the eye, and told him

nothing personal, kid.

He pinned me really quick.

A shot that turned into a fast half Nelson.

Afterwards, I told him

I did this so you could win. So you could show your fellow wrestlers that David can beat Goliath.

As much as he won that day, I think I was the true winner, for teaching him that pathetic weaklings can win too.

I bit someone once. But they were purposefully trying to cover my mouth

what constitutes heroism is like a dick measuring contest. That pizza guy that got all the kids out of a burning house he was just driving by. That dude put himself in harms way to help others. 'hero culture' feels like a whole seperate debate. One can argue for or against making pro athletes someone children should want to emultate. That's the more cynical argument i have against some of it. I'm so sick of hearing athletes political opinions. Kid doesn't care man. Kids want to meet shaq, he's cool for just giiving his time idc. So that's why people that are too cynical can bugger off too ya know.

That guy was just doing his job, and anyone else would've done the same thing in the same situation.
