The resale market for electric cars is going to be near zero. You can't afford to buy replacement batteries when the original cells wear out, and you can't even find replacement batteries even if you could afford to buy them. Nobody is going to want to get stuck with an electric car that has a dead battery.

I mentioned this the other day to a neighbor who just bought an EV. His reply was that he'd worry about that in 15 years, when the battery dies. No concept of irony at all.
