I've been saying this for years, but people love illusions. Illusions are comfortable. People grab them and hold onto them as long as possible. After the illusion breaks, they go into cognitive dissonance as their world falls apart. Think back when you were a child. Santa Clause was real then. Later the illusion was shattered. Remember how that felt.
