When it was passed you couldn’t own a cannon, you couldn’t own certain kinds of weapons.
Except you could and people did. the US military was supplied by private citizens during the revolutionary war

Not a thing. The constitution included the 2nd, the 2nd wasn't "passed" as though a normal amendment.
Also fully auto guns existed back in 1775 and before. So did rifles that gook magazines. So did rifles that carried 30+ rounds.
