Disneyworld had it's own regional self governing municipality and tax exemption status. Recently, Disney came out in opposition to Florida Republicans outlawing sex-ed for 3rd graders, and said that they would suspend all political contributions. So now the Florida Republicans have removed both their self-governing status and tax exemption benefits.

Adding to the above, Disney was trying to prove its progressive bona fides to placate leftist employees by pledging to work to overturn the new FL law that bans gender identity etc 'instruction' to K - 3. They didn't expect FL Repubs to hit back because Rs are usually spineless. The response will end up costing Disney a lot of money--which is all the execs actually care about.
