State Guard forces are all-volunteer forces that augment and provide support to the Army National Guard. Usually State Guard guys are older, retired ARNG guys who still want to wear a uniform and help out. They'll do things like traffic control, some transportation and some logistics. They are NOT part of the United States Army and derive total authority and funding from the Governor.
