When the gubmint declares the prices like the commies like to do, then supply and demand is determined not by the price, but by the opportunity costs of the length of line times the number of days you're willing to spend waiting in the line to get the product at that price. Or you can skip the line and go with the guy that knows how to siphon gas and sells it in the black market at a 'no waiting in line' price.
