A few days ago, he posted a video (in uniform) where he essentially demanded that his senior officers take accountability for the absolute shitshow happening in Afghanistan. He specifically mentioned the absurdly early abandoning of our largest air force base in Afghanistan, which should have been used to evacuate US personnel in an orderly manner. Instead, the senior officers decided to abandon the base (along with BILLIONS OF DOLLARS worth of equipment) and use the civilian Kabul airport to evacuate... while the Taliban is occupying Kabul.

He got into trouble for the video, because you're not supposed to make political statements while in uniform. Well, that used to be the case- now they selectively allow it. But he spoke a message that they did not approve of, so he got into trouble, and was relieved of his command position at the air base he's working at.

This video here is about 3 days after he posted that initial video demanding accountability. The response he got from fellow Marines was mixed, but he talks about one specific officer that he really looked up to making a remark that "If he had any honor, he would have resigned". This is implying that this senior officer never respected or believed that this Marine had "honor". So here he is, resigning his commission and giving up his retirement/pension/VA benefits on principle.

Big picture- this might be the guy. This might be the leader we need. His temperament is perfect. He refuses to give up his morals for money (he'd be entitled to around $2 million if he just spent 3 more years in the Corps). He knows right and wrong, and he put his fucking rank on the table and said "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ASSHOLES?!" in a calm, professional manner. Any action that the military takes against him will make them look terrible for punishing a Marine who is grieving the deaths of 11 Marines and a Navy Corpsman who were blown up in Kabul a week ago. Those deaths could've been avoided, but in the chaos of Kabul airport...

As a former grunt, I appreciate what he had to say about the special forces. All this praise and mystique is heaped upon these guys- and don't get me wrong, almost every last one of those guys is a true badass.... but are they truly deserving of any more attention/praise/dick-sucking propaganda movies than the average Army Private going on his fifth patrol in 3 days through sniper-infested valleys? It was an interesting point to bring up.

I've now watched both videos a couple times now. I wonder what he means when he says that no one knows exactly what he's capable of? Does he know something? Or does he just fancy himself a real go-getter?

I agree. This could be the guy. The entire system needs torn down. I'm interested to see how he goes about it.

He's not the guy. He is the kind of guy we want, but not the kind of guy we will get. At best, he would be the puppet of the guy. His connections do not currently stand that deep, guaranteed.
