In response Abbott told an Austin television station he would simply keep calling special sessions of the legislature through next year if necessary, and raised the possibility of Democrats facing arrest upon returning home.
“As soon as they come back in the state of Texas, they will be arrested, they will be cabined inside the Texas capitol until they get their job done,” Abbott said.
I think the idea of repeatedly calling for special sessions is the better path. I doubt Abbott has any legal recourse to arrest them, but I could be wrong.
I would like to think there's some kind of legal malpractice, or "contempt of court/missing a court date" law that would automatically issue a warrant for their arrest. And if not there should be a bill forcing politicians to do this job. No more sit ins, no skipping out of town or face the same legal repercussions of a person's on probation.

That is a possibility. I don't know Texas law enough to say for sure.
