"Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, came under fire after filing a bill to ban paper straws. He said in a news release that paper straws "fall apart and turn to mush quicker than Joe Biden trying to string together a coherent sentence. They collapse like Mitt Romney under the slightest amount of pressure, and even with Kamala Harris … well, never mind." When asked to finish that sentence, Dahm said, "One thing that could be said is you can't use a paper straw for a milkshake, but maybe Kamala Harris could because of her vast experience," Dahm said. "Maybe she would be able to get that accomplished." When asked to elaborate on what that meant, Dahm continued to imply that he believes that's how Harris got her start in politics. "This is the kind of thing that happens a lot of times with accomplished women, and particularly accomplished women of color, that it can't simply be that she got the position on merit. He has to somehow denigrate it," Andrews said. Oklahoma Senate Democrats also filed a formal complaint against Dahm for what they said was a violation of the code of conduct and ethics."
