Something to consider: Most front doors in the suburban US are about as secure as a wet paper bag. Have deadbolts in addition to your standard door latch? Doesn't matter - door jambs are made from 5/8" pine lumber. Maybe oak if you upgraded. A well placed boot to the door will blast those latches right through the jambs like brittle kindling. There are many options you could pursue to improve upon this if you desire. I opted for something similar to this:

The trick with this is you need to have something substantial to screw the base into, and you need to upgrade and lengthen the screws. These won't prevent break-ins, but they will delay a determined intruder long enough for you arm yourself and respond. Cops with a no-knock warrant typically blast out the hinges, so it's of limited effectiveness for that.
