The Stand - IMHO - marked his high point, and after that it seemed like he was just cramming words onto paper. That or perhaps his short stories written under his Richard Bachman pen name.

Agree. His short stories and Bachman books were good. Like Springsteen, he may have been relevant 30 years ago, but he's an out of touch asshole now.
