I don't hunt specifically because the state says I can't use my AR-15s. Not because it destroys the meat - but because it's not powerful enough to down a deer if you don't place the shot perfectly.

An aside: a muslim chef I knew some years ago confirmed they'd get the animal riled up, get its adrenaline flowing, and then cut their throat. Claimed it made the meat taste better. I still use my 30-06 to hunt, but .223 would work.
