5.56 was designed to wound, not kill. Its smaller and lighter so more rounds can be carried at a time. A wounded soldier is is bad for moral and takes 2 soldiers to carry him off the battlefield. Not to mention the resources for recovery. Go ahead and shoot big game with that round and see how far you have to track it.
