I don't think they were saying she's Asian because she was born in Asia. I think their point is that she's Asian by birth due to her race, not someone who "identifies" as Asian.

That was a direct quote that the article was using from this tweet (twitter.com). Yes the whole "identifies" thing is bullshit, but I'm not going to let them replace one line of bullshit with another. A paki born in london is still a paki. A somali born in germany is still a somali.
