From my own dealings with trying to secure an email server and getting emails delivered and sent - It's surprisingly easy to activate an email server, but almost impossible for some to secure them.
I've run across large corps (GE...) that didn't have all of the proper security directives set on their email systems. It's incredible how many places are still running like they were in 1994.
