Uncle Sam's Misguided Children!

The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps! Eleanor Roosevelt

I'd never seen that quote before. That's hysterical!

Misguided is a great way to view it.

There is this unspoken rule that you can’t challenge someone who has served in our military

Most military members believe they are serving the country. That they are doing something for their fellow citizens. But you have to ask; is what our military does and has done in the world honorable, beneficial, morally right? Not exactly. So why would we put them on a pedestal?

It is hard to have to have this conversation with people. We are taught to blindly support our military.

Personally I discourage service. Don't become a tool of the state. Tools aren't always used for good.

I try to separate the people from the institution when I can. The military from those serving. The police from cops. Etc. I don't like to blindly support or oppose anything.

A few years ago I remember seeing DHS requests for bids to supply them with 1000s of AR-15 style "personal defense weapons". And billions of rounds of ammo.

Also, Marine Vietnam Vet. We hated to M-16s we were issued when they took away the M-14s.
