It wasn't horrible.

There was the 'strong female character' vibe from Galadriel, but by all accounts she SHOULD be a badass. The worst part was the black elf and dwarves. I mean really WTF. Just like the black Targaryen in "House of the Dragon", it doesn't really fit. I guess in 'current year' it wasn't as awful as I expected. I'll watch the next episode.

Now I did hear they are making Elrond gay, that will be way fucked up if true.

Naw nigger elf was the worst part. He doesn't even appear to be a very talented actor. If the show focused only on him, it would be completely unwatchable.

Idk about the pedo vibes in HofD, I mean that was how it was done back in the day. They didn't waste reproductive years when life expectancy was 25 years old. The King rebukes the offer of marrying the child and takes an older wife. So, that's anti-pedo I guess.

That's what people have been saying, "if it was done historically..." though the characters that do it are usually seen in a negative light. In House of the Dragon, the King appears sympathetic. And yes he rebukes the 12 year old, because he would have to wait two years to sleep with her, for a 14 year old.

It's the normalization of pedophilia through a popular medium.

I concur - I was extremely uneasy with the direction that last episode was going - glad it steered differently but this left one looming question: Realizing there may be some truth to the writing in 'this was the way it was done back in the day' the fact is that GoT and now HotD are fiction; this would imply that the writing of child-marriage into the story was a conscious and concerted effort by all who write and edit the script.

That said, I am curious how this will drive the remining story - bad enough they had to toss in those fucking halfbreeds

That isn't how I saw it. He was hesitant to remarry at all. Then a couple of times he was dismayed about how young that girl was. I don't believe the waiting to have sex was the issue either. He was the king, he could get some whores sent up if he wished. In the end he felt connected to the other woman and preferred to marry her. So idk. Maybe it is trying to normalize pedo, that isn't how I saw it, but perhaps for those that are already inclined to that, they might see it as reinforcement of the idea.

I watched ep 1. All the acting felt emotionally forced, like that dragon lady in GoT. Everyone.

All the "quality" people are women or negroes. - Sauron is a normal looking white dude. - white elf men are smarmy polititions (maybe (((white)))) - elf soldier with darkie is an incel dork - elf troops with Galadriel are weak, lazy, fearful - watch officer is genocidal and prejudiced

So I felt the same. I get the diversity shit, and honestly I don't care about the black dwarves. Most dwarves were dead by lord of the rings so it could've been possible. The black Hobbits is kinda dumb but it could also be explained away in the "future" with all the halfongs having curly ass hair. They just bred to be mostly white so it's not a complete far fetched jump.

Nigger elf and mudshark is retarded.

But I was expecting a lot more nigger and homo so far. The show hasn't caught me at all in any meaningful way but I will probably at least give it the first season watch to see how bad and what direction they go in.

For me the most interesting thing was seeing the dwarven mountain in its prime. I agree there isn't a whole lot to keep me hooked, but as you say, there isn't as much nigger and homo as I expected. I will likely keep watching as long as that holds true.

I'll watch thru the first season. Even if it gets bad the start was less shitty then I imagined so I will allow it to follow thru for 1 season and render a verdict then. I'm predicting it will just be a kind of forgettable thing hinestly

In that universe, all things dark represent evil. Evil itself comes from the darkness. The only exception or oddity, which is a bit different in description is Tom Bombadil. This metaphor of dark is evil and light is good is a constant theme. Additionally, the stories themselves are Anglo-Saxon centric. All men of good heart are white. All beings of darkness are not.

Galadriel was never a bad ass fighter and was never able to go to Valenor

No, it is horrible. From the boiler plate, cringey dialogue to the characters that are so run of the mill and flaccidly fleshed out that there wasn't a single character that I cared about over the 2 episodes. Now throw on top the almost painful plotting and character choices and you have a dumpster fire of mythic proportions. The final insult, of course, is that there isn't a thing about it that rings -- pun intended -- true to LOTR or Tolkien. Other than the names you'd think you're watching just another generic fantasy, and a pretty shitty one at that.

The inexplicable diversity and ever present Gurl Powr are annoying and serious flaws BUT they are not the reasons why the show is horrible. It would be hot garbage even if there wasn't a nigger in sight and all the heroic leads were male.

Just don't. Whether you watch it to hate it or because you're curious, both end up supporting further productions of this type of shit. Send them a message that they can spend as much money as they want, but it will only serve to appease 13% of the population, most of which do not have an Amazon account.
