Lear openly stated he hated Christians because he heard a Christian radio preacher when he was young in middle America saying some Jews are good. He felt it was an affront . He said he wanted to bring them down. All in the family was the worst. Archie bunker had mainstream views and Lear used satire to tear down those and make them seem ridiculous. If you listen to it today you will know Archie bunker was right. Even the blacks disliked what Lear did. His lead black actor on good times protested the scripts many times saying they denigrated blacks. He has discussed. And Maude ruined marriages and made men laughing stocks. Created a friction between women and men that hadn't existed. Caused many women to ruin their lives and stay single which they regretted later. Before those shows most of Americans fast tracked getting married and having kids and they undid it and they stayed together. After those shows that all changed. Telelvision is a tremendously powerful force because even though your brain knows its fake what your eyes see goes into your mind as real experience and gets recorded that way. This was why television was so heavily regulated with the standards boards to protect the American culture and mind. Its frankly far worse than drugs. The. tje standards boards were relaxed and it has destroyed America.
