Never heard of it. Really? from a search it looks kinda....squirrely? For lack of a better word. Like southpark in space or something.
I've only seen the first few episodes so far, but I'm pretty impressed. It's got the beautiful space special effects, decent sets, actual characters who are unique individuals with their own quirks, and epic music. The smartassery is a nice bonus, as because why the hell not; not all captains are Picards or Kirks.
To be fair, I got in WANTING TO like it, since Star Trek is dead, Star Wars is dead, Dr Who is deader than those even, and everything sucks. Luckily, I DO like it. It's not like it's the greatest thing ever; but it's enjoyable. Hell, it's more enjoyable than a Marvel movie even, and I do like those... they're just like eating a whole bucket of cheap candy - enough already after a certain point, and then you don't want any more cheap candy for awhile after.. unless you're a weird gross fatty, but that's none of my business until it's time for you to be made fun of again... but I digress.
Man, I want some whiskey now. I need an excuse to go to the boat where the whiskey is. SHIT! I am digressing again!
It gets way better imo. When they first started the humor didn't fit the tone well, as it progresses it improves.
Exactly as I suspected.
I feel like it starts that way almost deliberately, because they're all new together and are covering insecurity in new stressful situations with humour, as one might do in that situation. It feel better than Star Trek already from it's very inception.
I want to watch the rest even more now!
The first few episodes give off that vibe. They tone that aspect way down and it improves the quality of the show.
That's good to know. I caught an episode of it and had to turn it off because it was just way over the top.

Agreed. I think a lot of people thought that and they actual listened to the criticism.
I had to look as to when they started turning it around.
Season one was weirdly fascinating. Season two sucked balls. Season 3 can bite me.
