My favorite example is EVs.(myev.com) Sure, politicians sold deplorables on the idea that EVs were going to save money. Except, in order to so, other taxpayers had to subsidize the few that bought them. Then, gradually, subsidies ended and then states started taxing EVs higher because they avoided the gas tax. Of course there's tons of other indirect costs EV owners face.
