The best outcome is going to be the addict gets clean but is a shell of their former self, fit for little more than being a statistic and a story for those hoping to reach the same lofty goal.
I’m watching it happen real time…a friend is wasting away on cocaine. He has other demons he’s battling, using this as a crutch. A beautiful wife, $350k/year job, gorgeous home, intelligent and athletic. He has quit his job, gotten fat and lazy, and has reached out to a divorce attorney after confusing her encouragement to start working for greed and attempts to get his money.
Sad, and sadly not isolated. He’s far from the bottom, which is what you see littering the streets of our once beautiful cities…if it’s not the joggers ruining them (Atlanta, Baltimore), it’s the druggies (Seattle, San Francisco)
I used to like doing LSD, I totally should have went to jail for 10 to 20 years for that because somehow this benefits the community and is better for my family?

I can play that way too - I can say that you are saying that we should allow jews to poison our people with heroin unless we completely ban alcohol.
I've seen the destructive effect of every single drug you can name. I watched people die from heroin overdose and I watched kids as young as 8 years old smoke weed laced with heroin or fentanyl that was give to them by drug dealers for free. White kids.
How do we fix this problem? If you have any idea of your own tell me because I can only see one solution.
My sisters friends husband was an electrician. I met him once, seemed like an asshole.. Anyways he decided to get himself a crack/fent addiction for some reason and ended up tearing his family (2 young kids, wife) apart. Fucker OD'd about a year later. Wonder what the fuck was going on in his head for that to happen.
One of my friends started doing crack in high school, got himself in drug debt and ruined himself and his parents. The reason he started doing crack was so he could pull all nighters playing WOW. I wish I was joking.
Sales, distribution, and possession in quantity should be in the same legal category as snake oil or pyramid schemes. It is always harming to the purchaser and the seller knows it. Similar to those products, the user is the first victim and not an accessory criminal, so possession shouldn't be illegal, just sales.
Knowing what we know now about the CIA's extracurricular revenue generating schemes to raise alternate project funding, I don't believe there ever was a war on drugs except on paper. The CIA version of a bake sale is heroin and cocaine.
