Femininity being a threat to masculinity makes no sense. Men are masculine in order to protect and provide for women so they can be feminine. Femininity is impossible without masculinity and masculinity is unnecessary without femininity. What the first comics author is trying to talk about (but lacks the subtlety to talk about because feminism, despite all the fancy jargon is actually an overly simple way to look at the world) is a fear of emotional vulnerability, which is present in both sexes and completely normal. Men and women just deal with it differently, generally.
