Great misconception, people who believe and say this. My own homeschooled kids taught themselves - because they weren't forced, they found learning pleasant and entertaining. They also worked liked men growing up. No worse idea than caging together pubescent young people of both sexes for seven hours a day with no parental supervision (from parents who love them more than teachers) and expect them to concentrate on something so boring as English Lit.
