We lived that life, full stop. We traveled the country and even went overseas, we weren't wealthy. We were free. We had state parks to ourselves while everybody else was stuck in a building. We visited Civil War sites, Washington DC, sat in on a session of Congress. Did what we wanted when we wanted. Etc. etc. Never worried about 'grades,' my (more than five) kids worked on construction sites like grown men. The relatives mocked us, made fun. This was the mid 80s, wasn't cool back then but I didn't care. They are all successful and college graduates save two. Two have masters, they paid for their education themselves. Now they all homeschool and they all have large families. One is married to a negro. Gotcha!! Not a chance.
